PLG Gets 58 New Affordable Homes For Seniors
Seniors moving into 333 Lenox Road will have access to a rooftop garden, social services and affordable rent, officials said.

PROSPECT-LEFFERTS GARDENS, BROOKLYN — A new senior center in Prospect-Lefferts Gardens will bring nearly 60 new affordable homes to the neighborhood, officials announced this week.
Construction has completed on a $20 million housing development at 333 Lenox Road that will provide 58 affordable housing units and services that cater to the needs of the elderly, Gov. Andrew Cuomo's office announced Monday.
"In New York, we are committed to caring for our senior community and ensuring that they can age in their own homes and their own neighborhoods," Cuomo said. "This new development offers an affordable and age-friendly environment that will allow older New Yorkers to live independently and comfortably for years to come."

The 13-story building includes 24 studios and 33 one-bedroom apartments designated for seniors earning 60 percent or less of the Area Median Income, who will have access to emergency pull cords, grab bars in the bathroom, roll-in showers and motion sensor activated lights in their apartments.
Building amenities include a rooftop garden, a computer lab, laundry facilities and social work services — provided by Selfhelp Active Services for Aging Model — that include recreational, educational and wellness care, said the Governor's office.

The project was funded through New York State Homes and Community Renewal, Cuomo's $20 billion, five-year plan to build and preserve about 100,000 affordable homes statewide, officials said.
The program has brought roughly 15,300 apartments for about 41,000 people in Brooklyn.
