"The sommelier André Hueston Mack has opened a small empire of restaurants in Prospect Lefferts Gardens in recent years. There’s the ham bar & Sons; the breakfast taco counter Mockingbird; and a bakery called Chickadee Bread. Kingfisher, a restaurant with an eye for seafood that opened last fall, is his sixth. Plates priced around $20 to $35 each include oysters, monkfish with crushed kettle chips, and a noteworthy shrimp cocktail."
Last fall, Kingfisher opened just down the street from the wine shop Mack and his wife took over in 2017, Vineyard, the bar they opened in January 2020, &Sons Ham Bar, the provisions shop opened next door in May 2020, &Sons Buttery, the bakery they opened that July, Chickadee Bread and finally the taco spot in 2021, Mockingbird Taco.
In October, Mack told Patch that Kingfisher would focus on locally caught, sustainable fish.
“I was just surprised that when you think of New York, you don't really think about seafood,” Mack told Patch., “I mean, we’re surrounded by water.”
