Triple Shooting in Crown Heights Kills One, Wounds 2 Others: NYPD
A Crown Heights man was killed and two others were wounded in a triple shooting Thursday night, police said.

CROWN HEIGHTS, BROOKLYN — Three men were shot Thursday night, one fatally, in front of a Crown Heights apartment building, police said.
Crown Heights resident Akaijah Evelyn, 37, and two other men were standing in front of 777 St. Marks Ave. at about 10:30 p.m. when all three were shot, according to the NYPD.
Responding police officers found Evelyn with a gunshot wound to the chest, police said. A 31-year-old man was shot in the right thigh, and a 36-year-old man was shot in the left foot.

All three victims were taken to Kings County Hospital, where Evelyn was pronounced dead. The other two men were in stable condition as of Friday .
No arrests had been made as of Friday morning, and an investigation into the shooting was ongoing, police said.

An NYPD spokesman said that following the gunfire, witnesses saw a black sedan leaving the crime scene at a high rate of speed. However, the spokesman said police could not confirm that the shots came from the car.

This shooting took place in the NYPD's 77th Precinct, which patrols the northern half of Crown Heights. Through Aug. 28, major crimes were collectively down nearly 3 percent in the 77th compared to the same time period last year, police said.
Through Aug. 28, a total of 21 shootings with 23 victims had been recorded by police in the precinct, compared to 20 shootings with 24 victims during the same period in 2015.
