Richardson ran for her Assembly seat by aligning with the reform-minded wing of the part, like the New Kings Democrats, and Myrie toppled the long reign of Jessie Hamilton, a former state senator and one-time protege of Mayor Adams, who allied himself with state republicans as part of the Independent Democratic Caucus.

Both were also pepper sprayed by the NYPD during the summer 2020 George Floyd protests in Brooklyn, according to City & State.

More recently, they’ve been having unique experiences.

This fall, Richardson was fired from her position as Deputy Borough President, for what some claimed was a toxic work environment, including nearly getting violent with the director of a non-violence non-profit director.

Myrie won another term last week and will remain representing Crown Heights and parts of Prospect Heights, Park Slope and Prospect-Lefferts Gardens for at least the next two years.
