Cyclist Hit, Killed By FDNY Fire Truck In Queens: Reports

QUEENS, NY — A bicyclist was hit and killed on Saturday afternoon by an FDNY fire truck that was responding to a call, according to reports.

The victim was identified only as a man in his 50s, the New York Post reported. The man was hit by a truck from Rescue Company 4 and pronounced dead at the scene.

The fire truck was headed north on 80th Street and turning onto Juniper Boulevard in the Middle Village area when it hit the bicycle about 4 p.m., WPIX 11 reported. It had its lights and sirens operating, the report said.

The New York Post report said the cyclist came out from behind a car and hit the side of the fire truck, and ended up under the rear wheels, quoting police sources.

The crash is under investigation.
