Queens Cop Fires Gun At Her Knife-Wielding Ex, Lands Behind Bars
An off-duty cop was arrested after her ex tried to attack her in their Queens home and she fired a shot to ward him off, police said.
LINDENWOOD, QUEENS — An off-duty police officer was arrested late Thursday after her ex-husband tried to attack her in their Queens home and she fired a shot to ward him off, according to the NYPD.
NYPD officer Johanna Eskerete, 43, and her ex-husband, Anthony Eskerete, started arguing in their Lindenwood home about 11 a.m. Thursday, police said.
The fight turned physical after Eskerete's ex-husband took her cell phone and pushed her, according to police.

When he grabbed a knife and held it to her throat, Eskerete fired her gun at him, police said.
He fled the home uninjured, ABC7 reported.

Eskerete, who worked for the NYPD's Brooklyn North office, was charged later that day with menacing.
Police charged her ex-husband with menacing, criminal possession of a weapon, assault and petit larceny.
Eskerete has worked for the NYPD since 2007, city payroll records show.
