QUEENS VILLAGE, NY — A woman who officials say rushed towards police officers with a knife in her hand was shot and tased by cops in Queens Village Friday night, according to the NYPD. The woman is in stable condition at an area hospital.
NYPD Chief of Patrol Rodney Harrison told reporters that around 10 p.m., two officers going west on Jamaica Avenue saw a woman acting "erratically" in front of a car wash as they approached 212 Street, according to a transcript provided by police. The officers were uniformed and traveling in a marked police car.
The two officers entered the driveway of the car wash when the woman threw a glass bottle at the officers when they exited the car, Harrison said. Cops saw that the woman had a knife in her hand.
