Community gathers for Three Kings Day Celebration at Roc Holiday Village (rochesterfirst.com) — Rochester families packed Roc Holiday Village on Sunday for a lively Three Kings Day celebration organized by the Puerto Rican Festival of Rochester, Inc. Kids enjoyed free crafts, hot chocolate, storytelling, and even camels while learning about the Dia de los Reyes shoebox tradition. The gathering also marked the final day of the 2025 ROC Holiday Village season downtown.
   

2. A look at bills that Gov. Hochul has signed as the year winds down (whec.com) — Several new state laws just signed by Gov. Hochul could directly affect Rochester-area residents, from expanded property tax exemptions for older homeowners to more affordable lung cancer screenings. Other measures tighten oversight of jails and prisons, regulate AI use in advertising, and legalize medical aid in dying with safeguards, an issue that hits home for at least one Rochester family.
   

3. Two teens shot in Henrietta, MCSO investigates (rochesterfirst.com) — Two 17-year-olds were shot late Saturday night during an incident on Wellington Drive in Henrietta, with Monroe County deputies finding a fleeing crowd and bullet damage to a home. Both teens were taken to Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester and are expected to survive. Investigators say there’s no current threat to the public and are asking anyone with information to contact the Sheriff’s Office.
   

4. Sabres Reassign Isak Rosen, Ryan Johnson; Rasmus Dahlin To Return (yardbarker.com) — Rochester hockey fans will see top Buffalo Sabres prospects Isak Rosen and Ryan Johnson back with the AHL’s Rochester Americans after the NHL’s holiday roster freeze lifted. Rosen returns as the Amerks’ leading goal scorer and top points-per-game player, while Johnson resumes a key top-four defensive role as Rasmus Dahlin rejoins Buffalo’s lineup.
   

5. STEM teachers honored statewide (fingerlakes1.com) — Rochester is highlighted as one of New York’s high-needs districts benefiting from the state’s Master Teacher and new Master Counselor programs, which now include 204 educators statewide. These experienced STEM teachers and counselors will mentor colleagues, lead regional trainings, and receive stipends over four years as part of Gov. Hochul’s push to strengthen the education workforce.
