Presents: CARNAVAL SHOW (rochesterlavoz.com) — Rochester residents can experience a colorful Carnaval SHOW at The Theater at Innovation Square on Sunday, February 15, 2026. Grupo Cultural Latinos En Rochester and guest artists will showcase Latin American dance, music, and costumes while sharing the history and meaning of Carnaval. The event aims to celebrate heritage, educate audiences, and strengthen cultural connections locally.
   

2. 'No tax on tips' in New York in limbo (13wham.com) — Rochester restaurant workers and other tipped employees could see major tax savings if New York decides to follow a new federal rule letting them deduct up to $25,000 in tips. State leaders haven’t committed yet, leaving local businesses and workers, including a downtown Rochester restaurant group and a single mother server, waiting on a decision expected next month.

Coast Guard Foundation awards scholarships to Staten Island students (silive.com) — A Rochester student, Nikolai Lopatka, is among several New Yorkers honored with Coast Guard Foundation scholarships this year, supporting children of Coast Guard members. While most recipients highlighted are from Staten Island, Orchard Park, the Bronx, and Cheektowaga, Rochester families with Coast Guard ties may find this scholarship opportunity especially relevant for future application cycles.
