EAST ROCKAWAY, NY — There is a new faculty member at East Rockaway High School.

Jennifer Belfiore comes to East Rockaway as the new chairperson of the science department with more than a quarter-century of experience as an educator.

After earning her degree from Teachers College at Columbia University in 1999, Belfiore began her career at the American Museum of Natural History, where she taught children and families from pre-K through grade 8 in the museum’s education department.

In 2013, she returned to the public school setting, teaching secondary science in the Greenburgh Central School District, where she also served as lead teacher.

A proud New York State Master Teacher Emeritus, Belfiore has long been committed to supporting both students and teachers in their growth.

Belfiore looks forward to supporting teachers in their adoption of the Next Generation Science
Standards (NGSS) and the New York State Science Learning Standards (NYSSLS), the district said.
