PORT JEFFERSON, NY — Suffolk County siblings Tom Krisa and Valerie Reynolds took "Wheel of Fortune" for more than $125,000 in cash and prizes. Krisa, who grew up in South Setauket and lives in Port Jefferson, was a guest recently on the "Patch Weekly Spotlight" to share the excitement.

Krisa, applied in Feb. 2022, but producers were looking to fill a "Home for the Holidays" episode with partners. Krisa brought his sister, who is a school social worker in Maryland.

"We were playing in honor of our mom who was a 'Wheel of Fortune' superfan. We would watch every night as a family," Krisa told Patch. "We had her funeral mass card in our pockets and when my sister spun the bonus wheel it landed on the letter A [which] was the first initial in mom's name. That was like a gift."

If there was a higher power at play, Krisa, who is an LIRR conductor, and his sister taped their "Wheel" episode on their mother's birthday.

"There were a lot of really cool signs," he said.

Cumulating the coolness factor, the tandem won the bonus round, as they had 10 seconds to correctly guess "juicy burger," leaving Pat Sajak to reveal the prize: $100,000.

"It's not often that envelope comes up," Krisa said.

But celebrating had to be tempered until the show aired, so Krisa and his sister had to stay mum on their successful performance. They had three guests at the taping: his wife, his father and his father's girlfriend, who became the "Wheel" support staff.

"I would take turns calling [them]," Krisa laughed. "I bothered the heck out of them for seven weeks."
