2 Local Highways Ranked Among The Worst For Truck Bottlenecks
A just released report from the American Transportation Research Institute confirmed what many Hudson Valley commuters already knew.
HUDSON VALLEY, NY — Chances are drivers who spend any time traveling near the junction of I-95 and I-287 in Rye or on I-287 near the Cuomo Bridge in Nyack have spent a lot of time staring at the back of a truck.
It won't come as much of a surprise that both stretches of highway are among the top 100 worst for truck bottlenecks, according to a just released report from the American Transportation Research Institute (ATRI). The highway in Rye was ranked the 17th worst, according to the "Top 100 Truck Bottlenecks 2022 Report." The Nyack section of I-287 near the Mario Cuomo Bridge, meanwhile, was ranked 74th worst for tractor-trailer congestion.
"ATRI’s bottleneck list is a roadmap for federal and state administrators responsible for prioritizing infrastructure investments throughout the country," American Trucking Associations President CEO Chris Spear said in a statement announcing the release of this year's report. "Every year, ATRI’s list highlights the dire needs for modernizing and improving our roads and bridges. We have seen, most recently in Pittsburgh, that the cost of doing nothing could also cost lives. It’s time to fund these projects and get our supply chains moving again."
