There will be a Devour event Aug. 25 in Rye Brook, N.Y.
The event, which is open to the public and features art, gumbo, IPAs and performances, will be held from 6 to 10 p.m.
Host Steve Perkins said Devour is about exposing Rye Brook to something new.
"The idea is really to open up the Rye Brook–Greenwich area to some of the art in this area," Perkins said. "It's a fun way of putting people together with good food and art."
A flier for the event said it is being held to celebrate "one year of DEVOUR, team-curated evenings immersed in food, stories and performance in the intimacy of an artist's home. This backyard bash is our thanks to supporters and an invitation to newcomers."
Perkins said the events are held about every three months.
Chicken-okra and vegetarian gumbo will be the meal, and there will be desserts from Nicole's Sweets. Guests are expected to bring an IPA to add to the beer tasting selection as admission, Perkins said, because he wants there to be an assortment of beers for attendees to try.
There will be about four performances, one by Perkins' 14-year-old daughter, all of which are "surprises," Perkins said.
The event will also feature artwork by local artists, and Perkins will be making the gumbo.
