Traffic Pandemonium At Playland Free Admission Holiday Opening
Rye police are reminding visitors admission to the iconic park is free for all, not a free-for-all, and traffic rules are still in effect.

RYE, NY — A historic free-of-charge opening weekend at Playland was a cause for celebration, after an ugly divorce from the county-owned amusement park's recently departed operator, but the big holiday festivities might have been just a little too popular.
The City of Rye Police Department said that when the parking lot at the iconic park reached capacity, the overflow created a few problems for the community.
On Memorial Day, shortly before 2 p.m., the department was informed by the Westchester County Police Department that the main parking lot for Playland was at capacity and they were diverting traffic back out of the park. The move created traffic issues in the nearby residential neighborhoods.
