Suffolk Man Charged In Fatal Hit-And Run: Police
The woman's body was found at the side of the road on May 21, Suffolk police said.
HOLTSVILLE, NY — A Holtsville man has been charged in connection with the hit-and-run death of a woman in May, Suffolk police said.
Steven Syrop, 52, surrendered to Major Case Unit detectives and was charged with leaving the scene of an incident with a fatality for fleeing the scene after the vehicle he was driving struck Jennifer Bianco on North Ocean Avenue in Holtsville, according to police.
Syrop will be arraigned Thursday at First District Court in Central Islip.

Officers were called about a body on the grass on the side of North Ocean Avenue, just north of Fish Road at around 7:45 a.m. on May 21, police initially said.
Bianco, 42, of Bay Shore. was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police.

Investigators did not have a time of occurrence, only the time the crash was reported, police said.
A blue Chevy Silverado was later eyed as the vehicle that struck Bianco, according to police.
