Woman Dies After Being Rear-Ended By Drunken Driver: Cops
The woman's two daughters were seriously injured in the crash last month. The other driver charged was DWI remains free without bail.

FARMINGVILLE, NY – A woman who was seriously injured when a drunken driver slammed into the back of her car last month has died, Suffolk police said Saturday.
According to police, 31-year-old Erika Bautista and her three daughters were inside a northbound 2015 Honda, which had become disabled in the right lane of County Route 83, north of South Bicycle Path, in Farmingville when it was struck in the rear by a 2018 Jeep being driven by 36-year-old Chris Montpetit at 5:06 p.m. on Sept. 25.
Bautista, of Farmingville, and her daughters Melissa Bautista, 4, and Lizabeth Bautista, 8, suffered serious injuries. Bautista's third daughter, Ruby Bautista, 10, was also injured in the crash.

Montpetit, of Shirley, was arrested at the scene and charged with DWI. He was released without bail and will be back in court on Oct. 19.
