Elderly Man Dies In Suffolk House Fire: Police

He was the only person found in the home, police say.

OAKDALE, NY — An elderly man died in an Oakdale house fire Wednesday morning, police said.

According to Suffolk County police, the fire broke out at about 5:40 a.m. at a home on Waterford Road.

The sole occupant, Stephan Jendricks, 88, was located inside and pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

Multiple fire departments responded to extinguish the fire. Investigators have determined the cause of the fire to be non-criminal in nature. Detectives are asking anyone with information to contact the homicide squad at 631-852-6394.
