Tuesday Fundraiser Held For Bayport Young Man Battling Cancer
Friends of the Lima family are staging an event called "Friends for Chewy" at Dublin Deck in Patchogue to "to show we can fight together."
BAYPORT, NY—On Tuesday night supporters of a Bayport family will gather at Dublin Deck in Patchogue to help raise funds for a young man battling cancer.
Matthew "Chewy" Lima was diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma at age 20. Neighbors and friends will host a fundraiser called Friends for Chewy Tuesday night at 6 p.m., hoping to help Chewy and his parents defray some of their medical costs and also to show them needed emotional support.
"Matthew is a very special young man," a GoFundMe page organized by James Cahill reads.

"The Limas are the first to always support everyone around them and now it is our time to support them."
Matthew is receiving chemotherapy treatments at Sloan Kettering Hospital in New York City.

The Tuesday night fundraiser will have baskets for raffle and a live auction.
"Let's show them we can fight together," the event flyer says.
