'Affectionate' Pepé Le Pew: Smithtown Adoptable Pet Of The Week
Pepé Le Pew, a 2-year-old male boxer mix, has a "tremendous" ability to capture the hearts of dog-loving humans.

SMITHTOWN, NY — Pepé Le Pew, a 2-year-old male black and white boxer mix, is the Smithtown Animal Shelter's Pet of the Week.
"Pepé is small in stature for his breed, but his ability to capture the hearts of dog loving humans is tremendous," the shelter wrote. "This sweet boy was found as a stray, and sadly never claimed."
Upon arriving at the shelter, Pepé was initially shy, but once he realized that he was in a safe and friendly environment, he began to show what an affectionate and loving pup he truly is, according to shelter staff.

"He has the most irresistible and gentle way of leaning up against one's leg while gazing into your eyes as gentle persuasion for attention and play time in kind," the shelter wrote. "This young and beautiful boy has a lifetime of unconditional love, laughter and memories to give one lucky family. Pepé would thrive in a home with children over the age of 10, doggy siblings, and possibly cats."
When Pepé Le Pew was found, he had the distinct odor of being recently "skunked" after being sprayed by a skunk, the shelter wrote.

"Coupled with his tuxedo coloring and flirtatious nature, the team at the shelter named him after the Looney Toons animated cartoon character," the shelter stated.

The Smithtown Animal Shelter's primary concern is finding the perfect home for each animal that finds his/her way to it. The Animal Control Officers at the Smithtown Animal Shelter will go out of their way to ensure both the rescued and rescuer are made for one another. If you have other pets, you can arrange to bring your four-legged family member into the shelter or they can set up an at-home meet & greet to see how your prospective new addition does with other family members, pets or the household itself. Please allow yourself an hour minimum to meet with your potential new family member.
The shelter is also seeking foster volunteers. Foster parents provide temporary care for cats, kittens and dogs in their own homes. Some animals need as little as two weeks of care, while others may need care for an extended time. Potential fosters need to have no other pets or young children in the home.
