- Five people robbed L.I. Gold Mine Jewelry in Smithtown on Wednesday. Police said a woman wearing a mask was buzzed into the store at 135 West Main Street but held the door open for four armed men. The group held employees at gunpoint while others smashed the displays and stole a large amount of jewelry. Read the whole story here. (Patch)
- February brings lots of upcoming events at Smithtown Sweetbriar Nature Center. There will be the Galentine's Hoots and Handmade Pottery on Feb. 10. - Smithtown Public Library (Commack Building) has a special event on Saturday, Feb. 11, at 1 p.m. The "True Crime-Love Gone Wrong" program will be led by Long Island prosecutor Michael Vecchione.
