- Nesconset's Paws of War, seek help saving dogs. Paws of War, a Nesconset-based nonprofit, is seeking help to make three Army soldiers and the dogs they rescued very happy. The soldiers, while serving overseas, found three puppies. They want to bring the pups back to their families in the United States and have turned to Paws of War for help. (Smithtown Patch)
- Revamped, costlier $2.3B project will add long-sought terminal at MacArthur Airport connecting it to the Ronkonkoma Long Island Rail Road station. The 15-year project will boost tourism and economic development by redeveloping a Suffolk County-owned parking lot and adding a convention center, 300-room hotel, sports complex and other facilities. - Commack man gets 16 years for trying to become terrorist. Elvis Redzepagic, 30, confessed to attempting to travel to Syria to wage "violent jihad" and join an al-Qaida affiliate or ISIS. "The nature of his offenses were very troubling," District Court Judge Denis Hurley said as he sentenced Redzepagic to 200 months in prison and five years supervised release. (Newsday)
