  1. Gurwin Jewish Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Commack celebrated the 103rd birthday of resident Natalie Weissman. The special milestone event was held on Wednesday. Weissman said her secret for a long life is to "work hard, dance, and have a positive attitude." (News 12 Bronx)

  3. Legislator Rob Trotta went down memory lane at the Veterans Day ceremony in Kings Park and shared stories of his father. The latter once served as an electronics engineer for the Marines during the Korean War. (Smithtown Matters)
  4. Town of Smithtown Youth Bureau, Horizons Counseling & Education Center, and Youth & Community Alliance gathered fifty-four volunteers on Nov. 5 to clean the shoreline of Schubert's Beach. The event aims to teach our youth to preserve the environment for future generations. (Smithtown Matters)
  5. An elderly driver damaged the Kings Park Post Office building on Wednesday morning. No one was hurt in the incident. Because the 84-year-old woman left the scene to call 911, police thought it was a hit-and-run incident. No charges were made. (Newsday)

  • "Paws of War, a Nesconset-based nonprofit, is aiming to help a U.S. Army National Guard member bring a dog she found while stationed overseas home to the U.S." (Smithtown Patch)
  • An iconic old ride has arrived at the Stony Brook Hall of Fame and will be on display for a significant amount of time. The 1983 Jaguar XJ -S H.E. that once belonged to the rocker Joan Jett was rolled up to the Village on Wednesday after being in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum in Cleveland, OH.
