Developmental Disabilities Institute Tigers basketball team returned to their home court this month, coinciding with Autism Awareness Month, and delivered an inspiring performance with a hard-fought victory against the mighty Hurricanes. The game was a testament to the team's dedication, spirit, and the power of sports in fostering inclusion and growth for individuals with autism and other developmental disabilities.

For the DDI Tigers, being part of the team goes far beyond the game itself. "This team allows our guys to have a uniform," said William Kampouroglou, Staff Training Coordinator at DDI. "They can wear their team spirit, team colors, proudly. They have fans in the stands. They are the competitors."
The impact of the team is deeply felt by the players. "I love being back playing with the team," shared Lorenza King, a proud member of the Tigers. "They are like family and it's great to have my parents come watch me too."

The energy and enthusiasm on the court were palpable, culminating in a well-deserved victory for the Tigers. The team demonstrated incredible heart and skill, showcasing their Tiger spirit and bringing excitement to all in attendance.
