DDI Welcomes Jennifer Low as Sr. Dir. of Development & Public Affairs

In her new position, Ms. Low will oversee DDI's fundraising, internal and external communications, and advocacy.

Developmental Disabilities Institute (DDI) is pleased to announce the appointment of Jennifer Carpenter Low as the new Senior Director of Development & Public Affairs. This strategic addition to the leadership team was announced by Kim M. Kubasek, Chief Executive Officer of the Smithtown-based human services organization.

Jennifer Carpenter Low brings a distinguished career in nonprofit leadership to her new role at DDI. Prior to joining DDI, Ms. Low served as Vice President of Marketing & Communications at United Way of Long Island and as Vice President at Smile Farms Inc., where she was instrumental in creating education, vocational, and employment opportunities for people with disabilities.

Her extensive experience also includes contributions to esteemed organizations such as the Anti-Defamation League, UNICEF USA, the Holocaust Memorial and Tolerance Center of Nassau County, and Long Island University.

In her new position, Ms. Low will be responsible for overseeing DDI’s fundraising initiatives, internal and external communications, and advocacy efforts. She will work closely with government, media, the business community, and other key stakeholders to further DDI’s mission of providing special education and therapeutic intervention services for children and adults with autism and other intellectual/developmental disabilities (I/DD).

“Jennifer’s executive skills and demonstrated record of success in helping build brand awareness and secure significant funding for local, national, and international organizations will help DDI continue to advance its mission,” stated Ms. Kubasek. “I am confident she will deliver extraordinary leadership, drive innovation, and we welcome her to the DDI family.”

A resident of Brightwaters, NY, Ms. Low earned her bachelor’s degree from SUNY Oneonta, where she was named an Alumni of Distinction in 2020. She is a member of the Cornell Cooperative Extension of Suffolk County’s Board of Directors and is a founding board member and past vice chair of Mondays Cancer Care. Active in her community, Ms. Low volunteers with numerous organizations, including the Bay Shore Lion’s Club.
