Deli to Open in Former Johnnie's Sub Side Location

The doors at the former home to  have been closed for some time now but by mid August there will be a new deli for people to shop at – Nino's Delicatessen.

"It's not like every other deli, it's different. It's more like a Manhattan-style deli," said owner Anthony Garofalo. "[It's] an upscale deli, the food is going to be good. I haven't been to a deli on Long Island that's going to be like mine."

Deli customers could expect to see European style refrigerators and some seating when entering Nino's, and have their food prepared by a chef with 25 years of experience.

The owner said he would be serving everything from heroes to hot food, salads, soups, breakfast food and more. This is the third deli Garofalo has owned, selling off the previous two before heading into this new location.

Garofalo, who moved to Lake Grove about three years ago from Brooklyn, said the Sub Side location stood out to him in deciding where to open his next deli. He also said that he's experienced no difficulties repairing the building, which he said was built in 1920, but has had to perform lots of renovations.

The hours of operation when open would be 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday.
