Driver Critically Injured In 2-Car Crash In Suffolk: Police
The crash took place Sunday, police say.
SAINT JAMES, NY — A driver was critically injured in a two-car crash in Saint James Sunday, police said.
According to Suffolk County police, the crash took place on Middle Country Road at about 5:35 p.m.
Kerwin Mendoza-Semprun, 31, of Brentwood, was driving a 2005 Toyota Camry while exiting a commercial driveway and making a left turn to the westbound lanes when his vehicle was struck by an eastbound 2002 Jeep Cherokee, police said.

Mendoza-Semprun was extricated from the vehicle and transported to Stony Brook University Hospital by the Nesconset Fire Department; he is being treated for critical injuries, police said.
The driver of the Jeep, 18, of Farmingville, was not injured; both vehicles were impounded for safety checks, police said.
