SMITHTOWN, NY — The first annual Greg W. Sill Foundation golf outing raised nearly $60,000, the Smithtown Central School District announced.

Sill's family and friends raised the money in memory of Sill, who was a social studies teacher at Smithtown High School West.

Sill died unexpectedly in March 2021 at the age of 48.

The golf outing was held at the Wind Watch Golf and Country Club, and the day was made possible by the dedication and support of the volunteer golf outing committee, many of which are teachers in the district.

With 108 players and just under 200 diners, folks enjoyed a sunny day together, sharing stories and good times of the type of person Sill was. Sill is remembered as a treasured social studies teacher in the Smithtown school district for over 20 years.
