Hanukkah Celebration, Holiday Movie Night this Week in Smithtown

Your guide to the biggest events happening in Smithtown this week: Dec. 1 - 7.

Hanukkah Celebration
Join the Nesconset Chamber of Commerce for a Festival of Lights celebration at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Nesconset gazebo on Smithtown Boulevard, next door to the Nesconset branch of the Smithtown Public Library. There will be giveaways for children and refreshments. 

Smithtown Library Adult Writers Group
Writers are welcome to read samples of works in progress to receive feedback and support from fellow writers in the community on Tuesday, 7 p.m at the main branch of the Smithtown Public Library. 

Drop & Shop Camp
Abrakadoodle in St. James is offering parents the opportunity to drop off children, ages 4 and up, on Wednesdays from 4 p.m. - 7 p.m. for reading books, arts and crafts while parents go out and do some shopping. Cost is $50 per a child, or $20 per an hour. Pre-registration is required. 

Smithtown Planning Board 
Town of Smithtown's Planning Board will host a public meeting 8 p.m. Wednesday night to consider applications for residential and commercial developments at the Eugene A. Cannataro Senior Citizen Center. 

Smithtown-Sunrise Rotary Club
Join the Smithown-Sunrise Rotary Club for their weekly meeting on Thursday, 7:45 a.m. at the Millennium Diner in Smithtown. This week features guest speaker David Rosner, director of Development for The Ronald McDonald House of Long Island. 

Holiday Movie Night Extravaganza 
Smithtown High School West will host a Holiday Movie Night featuring "The Polar Express" on Friday, from 6:30 p.m. - 9:30 p.m. The night will include holiday festive performances from Smithtown HSW Jazz Choir, AMS Jazz Band and Smithtown Kick Line Dancers. Tickets are $6 for adults and high school students, $2 for children.
