The new HIA-LI and Catholic Health collaboration aligns with recommendations that came out of a Hauppauge Industrial Park Opportunity Analysis prepared by HIA-LI and the Suffolk County Industrial Development Agency. Study findings suggest that the Park introduce amenities to establish “a more dynamic live-work environment” as a way to promote business growth within the Park. The report also recommended that the Park “provide features that improve health and quality of life, such as exercise stations, bike lanes and health clubs.”
“A healthy workforce is a productive workforce, and a productive workforce fortifies the Long Island economy,” said Carol A. Allen, Chairperson of the HIA-LI Board and President and CEO of People's Alliance Federal Credit Union. “By partnering with Catholic Health, the companies within the Innovation Park will increase their competitiveness through improved productivity.”

Through the newly announced collaboration, HIA-LI and Catholic Health Ambulatory Care at Commack will forge new pathways for offering Innovation Park-based employees, the services of highly-skilled physicians from multiple clinical specialties, all at one, easily accessible location. Catholic Health Ambulatory Care, located at 500 Commack Road, is conveniently situated adjacent to the LI-IPH, where 55,000 employees representing 1,350 companies play a central role in powering the Long Island economy by generating $13 billion in economic output annually.
“This exciting, new partnership will help drive economic growth on Long Island by attracting more businesses to the Innovation Park,” said Terri Alessi-Miceli, HIA-LI President and CEO. “The close proximity of a first-class, state-of-the-art health care facility will be a strong selling point for employers considering a move into the Park.”
At Catholic Health’s Ambulatory Care at Commack, HIA-LI employees will have access to St. Francis Heart Center-affiliated physicians, as well as world-class primary care, accredited rehabilitation care and specialty care, including breast health, colorectal and general surgery, orthopedics, pain management, pediatric orthopedic surgery, pulmonology, and radiology. Also at this location, HIA-LI employees will have access to comprehensive imaging services at St. Catherine Diagnostic Imaging.
“HIA-LI and the Long Island Innovation Park at Hauppauge are valued members of our community,” said Declan Doyle, President, Catholic Health’s St. Catherine of Siena Hospital. “Catholic Health’s mission is to provide compassionate and patient-centered care to those we serve. Our collaboration with HIA-LI allows Catholic Health to take an active role in the health and well-being of the tens of thousands of their employees, right in the Park’s own neighborhood. All members of the Park workforce should feel confident in knowing that they can get high-quality and compassionate care, where we treat the whole patient, body, mind and spirit.”
The collaboration will also give individual Innovation Park employers new opportunities to undertake various healthcare initiatives in cooperation with Catholic Health’s Ambulatory Care at Commack. Catholic Health also plans to offer HIA-LI-affiliated employees on-site wellness visits, pharmacy services, telehealth visits, and more. Potential additional programming may include employee onboarding services, joint health campaigns, and other initiatives.
“We anticipate that this new collaboration will lead to the creation of more effective workplace health programs and policies among Park employers,” said Joe Campolo, Chair of HIA-LI’s Long Island Innovation Park at Hauppauge Task Force and Managing Partner of Campolo, Middleton & McCormick, LLP. “This dynamic partnership has the real potential to reduce health risks and improve the quality of life for thousands of Long Island workers.”
In addition, Catholic Health’s St. Catherine of Siena Hospital is in close proximity to the LI-IPH, with the hospital able to meet the medical needs of Park employees in an acute-care setting. St. Catherine’s offers outstanding clinical services with a wide range of specialties, including cardiovascular care with the St. Francis Heart Center now available at St. Catherine, allowing residents to have the same expert cardiovascular care, closer to home. The hospital is also expanding its busy emergency department to meet the growing needs of the community, with a newly renovated triage area and additional treatment bays.
