Bird found in Fort Salonga backyard convalescing at local nature center.

According to a story in Newsday, a great horned owl that was caught in a soccer net in the backyard of a home in Fort Salonga was taken to Sweetbriar Nature Center to be nursed back to health.

“The owl, which got its entire 2-foot frame stuck in the rope netting, cannot fly upward and apparently suffered a muscle pull, said Janine Bendicksen, director of wildlife rehabilitation at Sweetbriar Nature Center, which is caring for the bird,” reported Newsday.
