- The Smithtown Historical Society is set to host its annual Garden Party Brunch. The event is scheduled for Aug. 19 to support the animals living there. - Nearby News: A Central Islip man is facing charges for fatally striking a pedestrian on Carleton Avenue. After the incident, the 47-year-old driver left the scene without calling for help. Officials said the victim was a 68-year-old man pronounced dead at the South Shore University Hospital. (Patch News)
- Island Harvest Food Bank is seeking donations as the shelves are more bare this year. The struggle to supply food items for the significant demand of people in need is due to the increase of families suffering from food insecurities and the fewer donations coming in.
