  1. There will be a LIPA Commission Hearing in Suffolk County on Friday, Dec. 16, at 10 a.m. at 725 Veterans Memorial Hwy in Smithtown. Visit the Town of Smithtown website for details. (Town of Smithtown Gov.)
  2. The Smithtown High Schools West turf is being renovated and promising to be ready for Spring Athletics. The renovation is part of the district's bond project. (Smithtown Patch)
  3. Just a friendly reminder that the St. James Holiday Market Wonderland kicks today from 3 to 9 p.m. The event will be held at the Lutheran Church parking lot at 230 2nd Ave. in St. James and features a heated tent, vendors, live music, characters, face painting, poetry, hot chocolate, cider, coffee, an empanada station and more! Admissions are free. (Patch)
  4. Smithtown High School West students brought the holiday spirit to the school by decorating trees. The environment club used recycled materials to make ornaments and other supplies to decorate bushes outside the building. (Smithtown Patch)
  5. A little kitty went missing ten years ago in Setauket. Mimi, the cat, was recently found and taken to the Brookhaven shelter. The staff noticed the tracker and contacted the family, who did not believe she had been found. The owner lives in Spain and Mimi is reuniting with her family. (Daily Voice)

  • Musicians of The Jazz Loft are taking their talents to a free concert at the Smith Haven Mall this Saturday! The music will be played from 2 to 4 p.m. The event is part of the outreach mission Dispatch Series that brings free performances to the community. Can't make it? No worries, there are others!   • A Road Rage on the LIE resulted in a throat slash in Farmingville. The incident happened on Wednesday night when a driver tried to confront another driver after a road rage. A suspect attempted to open the driver's door of the other driver and slashed the throat of a passenger who tried to intervene. (Patch)
