- Smithtown Chamber of Commerce installs officers. The ceremony was held at a nearby Smithtown eatery. (Long Island Business News)
- Looking for work? The Suffolk County One-Stop Employment Center is set to host a series of virtual employment events throughout October to help residents in their job searches, Executive Steve Bellone announced on Monday. See list of hiring events to be hosted by Suffolk. (Smithtown Patch)
- Tara Valente recognized as Healthcare Hero by County Legislator Trotta. In 2000, the Legislature established an annual recognition program so that all legislators would designate a Healthcare Hero from his or her legislative district to acknowledge their work as a frontline healthcare worker and their service to the community. - Woman rescued from burning car on Express Drive South in Islandia. Becky Boeckmann was driving a 2009 Pontiac G6 eastbound on Express Drive South, near Enter Lane, when she lost control of the vehicle and struck a tree. The vehicle caught fire. Three good Samaritans, including two off-duty members of the Central Islip Fire Department, were passing by and stopped to help Boeckmann. (smithtownmatters.com)
