Luso to Take Over Former Sertinos Cafe Location

Needing more space to cater to a rapidly expanding clientele has forced Luso Restaurant to move west on Main Street into a the recently vacated home of another popular Smithtown eatery – Sertinos Cafe.

Luisa Batista, owner of Luso Restaurant, an eatery that specializes in authentic Portuguese wood-char barbecue, said that she is confident her restaurant will do well in the 133 West Main Street location despite having two restaurants close there – Sertinos Cafe and Sizzler.

"We've got to take chances in life," she said. "I guess I'm going to do good over there because I have a good reputation, I've been in this business for almost 30 years and I've always been successful ... it's a good location and I'm going to make it work over there."

Batista said the restaurant should be in its new home by March.
