Man Dies In Nesconset House Fire

The man, a resident of the home, was pronounced dead at a hospital, police say.

NESCONSET, NY — A man died in a house fire in Nesconset on Monday afternoon, Suffolk police said.

A 911 caller reported a fire at 2 Highland Place at 5:25 p.m. Thomas Walz, 62, a resident of the home, was taken out of the house by first responders before Fourth Precinct officers arrived, police said.

Walz was pronounced dead at Stony Brook University Hospital.

There were no other people in the house at the time of the fire and no other injuries reported, police said.

The cause of the fire is under investigation but does not appear to be criminal at this time, the department stated.
