Man Dies In Smithtown Motorcycle Crash
The motorcyclist lost control and struck a curb, sign, and a fire hydrant before crashing into a fence, police say.
SMITHTOWN, NY — A motorcyclist was killed in a single-vehicle crash in Smithtown early Friday, Suffolk police said.
Police were called to East Main Street, roughly 100 feet west of Terry Road, at 3:47 a.m. when a 911 caller reported a motorcycle crash, police said.
Cory Fitzpatrick, 29, of Farmingville, was traveling east on a 1999 Harley-Davidson when he lost control of the motorcycle, which left the roadway and struck a curb, sign, and a fire hydrant before crashing into a fence, police said.

Fitzpatrick was pronounced dead at the scene by a physician assistant from the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner. The motorcycle was impounded for a safety check.
