- Democrat Kathy Hochul is now the New York governor, becoming the first woman elected to the post in New York state. The NYS 2nd Senate District race is over, with Mario Mattera winning against Susan Berland with 58,471 votes. You can find the full story here. (Smithtown Patch)
- Daycnee Vanderveer, 36, of Rockville Centre, was severely injured in a drunk crash in Sagtikos State Parkway and her family wants justice. Vanderveer had her legs amputated due to the unfortunate incident on Saturday. Driver Kevin Rosasdaqui was arrested and charged with DWI. (Patch)
- Trailer City on Jericho Turnpike in Commack is on the list of a developer to build three-story apartment buildings, but the proposal faces some resident opposition. Neighbors said the project would cause noise and dust pollution in nearby backyards. (Newsday/Subscription Required)
