Motorcyclist Dead Following Monday Morning Accident

A Smithtown mototcyclist was killed after crashing into another vehicle Monday moring on Landing Avenue in Smithtown.

According to Suffolk County Police, Francis Stanuch, 40, was driving a 2012 Honda motorcycle northbound at 8:05 a.m. when he struck a 1990 Ford driven by Eric Gismervik and was ejected from the motorcycle. Police said Gismervik was driving southbound on Landing and was attempting to make a left turn onto Oakside Drive when Stanuch collided with his vehicle. 

Stanuch was taken to St. Catherine of Siena Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

A police investigation is underway.
