Motorcyclist Seriously Injured In Collision With Car In Smithtown
The man was hit by a car after losing control of his motorcycle, police say.
SMITHTOWN, NY — A motorcyclist was seriously injured in a collision in Smithtown on Saturday night, Suffolk police said.
Joseph Caputo, 35, of Ozone Park, Queens, was operating a 2025 Ducati motorcycle westbound on Smithtown Bypass at the intersection of Hidden Ponds Circle when he lost control of the motorcycle around 9:20 p.m., police said. He was then struck by a westbound 2006 Honda Accord, police said.
Caputo was brought to Stony Brook University Hospital for treatment of serious injuries that are not life-threatening, police said.

The driver of the Honda, a 41-year-old Huntington Station man, was not injured, police said. Both vehicles were impounded for safety checks.
