New Smithtown HS West Assistant Principal Announced
Johnson is currently a lieutenant for the U.S. Navy reserves who was deployed to Guantanamo Bay in 2011 and 2012.

SMITHTOWN, NY — Smithtown High School West is welcoming a new assistant principal this fall, and he happens to be a member of the United States Navy reserves, the school district announced.
Scott Johnson, most recently the dean of students at Glen Cove High School, was named HSW’s new assistant principal. He is set to assume the role on July 1.
"I’m most excited about taking a step forward as an assistant principal, getting involved in the Smithtown community, learning about the families and contributing to an already great school district," Johnson said.

Johnson is currently a lieutenant for the U.S. Navy reserves. He was deployed to Guantanamo Bay in 2011 and 2012 and worked the detention camps. In 2019 and 2020, Johnson was deployed to East Africa working with the NAVY Seals.
For the last nine years, Johnson has worked at Glen Cove High School as social studies/special education teacher and dean of students.
