NY Jets Recognize Smithtown Football Player

SMITHTOWN, NY — Jack Melore, a jack-of-all-trades football player for Smithtown High School West, was named the New York Jets High School Player of the Week, according to the school district.

Melore was instrumental in Smithtown West's 20-14 upset win over No. 4-ranked Half Hollow Hills East on Saturday. He made 10 catches for 226 yards and scored three total touchdowns. On defense, he had six tackles, including a sack. He also batted away three passes.

Since Melore was recognized by the Jets, the NFL franchise will be donating $1,000 to the Smithtown West football program, according to the school district.
