Here are the top stories in Smithtown today:

  1. One killed in single-vehicle Southern State Parkway Crash. It happened around 1:15 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 28 on the Southern State Parkway westbound near exit 22 in Hempstead when a vehicle left the roadway and struck a pole, state police said. A passenger was taken to a local hospital and died of sustained injuries, said police. Another passenger was taken to a local hospital in serious condition. The State Police is asking anyone with information or who witnessed the collision to call 631-756-3300. (Daily Voice)
  2. Holiday Gift & Toy Drive-Thru returns to St. James on Dec. 4. The St. James Fire Department Engine Company No. 1 will hold its 2nd annual St. James Community Holiday Gift & Toy Drive-Thru at Gyrodyne/Flowerfield in St. James from noon to 4 p.m. Visitors will enter via the entrance on Route 25A.   3. Holiday Festival to return to Stony Brook Dec. 5. The Ward Melville Heritage Organization (WMHO)’s 42nd Annual Holiday Festival will return on Sunday, Dec. 5 from noon to 6 p.m. at the Stony Brook Village Center, 111 Main St., Stony Brook with Santa, performances, displays, activities and more.   4. Suffolk DA announces findings of multi-year Investigation into Prosecutorial Misconduct by former ADA Glenn Kurtzrock. Suffolk County District Attorney Timothy D. Sini and the New York Law School Post-Conviction Innocence Clinic (“PCIC”) have announced the findings of a multi-year investigation into prosecutorial misconduct by former Assistant District Attorney Glenn Kurtzrock. The report issued Monday is believed to be the first publicly-issued review and audit by a district attorney’s office of an individual prosecutor’s compliance with disclosure obligations.
