Overnight Closures Coming To Sunken Meadow Parkway In Smithtown Town

A bridge maintenance project is in the works. See when the closures are scheduled for.

TOWN OF SMITHTOWN, NY — Road closures are slated for the Sunken Meadow State Parkway in the Town of Smithtown, the New York State Department of Transportation announced Thursday.

Bridge maintenance will be in the works, weather permitting.

  • The northbound lanes will be closed at Exit SM2 (State Route 454/Veterans Memorial Highway) on Sunday, Oct. 22; Tuesday, Oct. 24; and Thursday, Oct. 26, between the hours of 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. Motorists will be detoured off at Exit SM2, then turn left onto northbound Harned Road, continue onto Indian Head Road for approximately ¼ mile for access to Sunken Meadow Parkway.
  • Southbound will be closed at Exit SM3W (State Route 25/Jericho Turnpike) on Monday, Oct. 23, Wednesday, Oct. 25; and Friday, Oct. 27 between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. Motorists will be detoured at Exit SM3W onto Old Indian Head Road for westbound Jericho Turnpike to eastbound State Route 454 for access to Sunken Meadow Parkway.

Motorists were urged by the department to plan accordingly and drive responsibly in work zones.

Fines are doubled for speeding in a work zone. Convictions of two or more speeding violations in a work zone could result in the suspension of one's driver's license.
