• Melville Driving Instructor Accused of Showing Porn to Teen Boys (huntingtonnow.com) — Smithtown parents should know a 75-year-old driving instructor from Melville has been charged after police say he showed pornographic images to three 16-year-old boys during a December driving lesson in town. Suffolk County police are asking anyone with information or possible additional victims to contact the Third Precinct Investigative Unit at 631-854-8326.
   

• Cold Spring Harbor seventh-grader leads the way vs. Smithtown West (tbrnewsmedia.com) — Smithtown West’s girls basketball team fell 56-40 at home to Cold Spring Harbor, where 12-year-old standout Maddie Dircks scored 26 points and sparked a decisive fourth-quarter run. The Bulls, led by Catherine Piccininni’s 13 points, dropped to 5-3 and now face a pivotal week against undefeated Northport and crosstown rival Smithtown East.
