People Trapped In 2 Smithtown Crashes On Consecutive Days
Both were taken to local hospitals after being rescued by Smithtown firefighters.
SMITHTOWN, NY — The Smithtown Fire Department rescued two people trapped in vehicles after collisions on Sunday and Monday.
The department was called to a two-vehicle crash in front of Napper Tandy's on East Main Street in Smithtown around 4:25 p.m. Sunday. Someone was trapped in one of the vehicles. First responders freed the person by removing the vehicle’s roof and brought them to a local hospital.
A day later, firefighters were called to a two-vehicle crash on River Road near Edgewood Avenue at 9:45 p.m. Monday, the fire department wrote on Facebook. Crews found a vehicle rolled over with a person trapped inside.

Smithtown fire officials and other departments worked to stabilize the vehicle and free the person, who was brought to a nearby hospital. Units worked for 45 minutes.
Chief Patrick Diecidue led both operations.
