PHOTOS: Sertinos Cafe, CEOs Raise $1,000 for Angela's House

'CEO Serves' brings in donations for the non-profit organization.

While having local CEOs make coffee and bring meals to customers was a great novelty act for people to see Sunday afternoon, it also was charitable as the event brought more than $1,000 in for Angela's House.

To help raise funds for Angela's House, a non-profit organization that helps families care for medically frail children, Blu Chip Marketing and the cafe joined forces for where local prominent business people made and served the customers from noon to 2 p.m.

Craig Lowenthal, owner of Sertinos, said Karin Caro of Blu Chip approached him with an idea to host a benefit for Angela's House, an organization he admitted he wasn't initially aware of. After meeting founder Bob Policastro and learning about Angela's House, Lowenthal said he couldn't be happier to do his part in helping the organization out.

"What my goals are since we opened up was to try to work with the community and partner with everybody ... I think it was a natural between Angela's House and us," he said.

Following the event, Policastro applauded the efforts of everyone involved.

"I'm sure Craig [Lowenthal] is thrilled too, I know I am," he said. "I think people have been ordering all day."

Lowenthal said his goal was not to profit form the event but just to cover his costs, which he said he was able to do, and in doing so helped raise more than $1,000.

While Lowenthal had his own expectations on what the event would raise for Angela's House, he didn't know what to expect of the people not in Sertinos uniforms serving his customers. After the event Lowenthall said with the CEO's performance that if they wanted they could always have a career in the food industry.

"The CEOs I was extremely impressed with," Lowenthal said with a laugh.
