Police: Car Damaged in Parking Lot, Removed Tree Could Be Cause

Suffolk County Police are looking into an incident where a car could have been damaged by a tree removed by a landscaping company in a Smithtown gymnastics center parking lot.

Police said the hood of a 2007 Honda Pilot was dented in the parking lot of Flips Gymnastics, located at 975 W Jericho Turnpike, between 3:50 p.m. and 5 p.m. on July 3. The owner of the Pilot said it was parked under a tree and when they returned to the car they noticed it was covered with saw dust and the hood was dented, according to police. 

Police said the tree had been removed by a landscaping company. The landscaping company is denying any knowledge of this incident, according to police.

An investigation is underway.
