Police: Port Jeff Man Breaks Into Head of the Harbor Home Twice
Search of van yields cache of stolen goods.
A Port Jefferson man was arrested in connection to multiple burglaries in Head of the Harbor.
Arlindo DaCruz, 31, was arrested on two counts of second-degree burglary charges and criminal possession of stolen property after admitting to Suffolk County police that he broke into a house on Rhododendron Road in Head of the Harbor on two separate occasions, according to police.Â
Police said an officer from the Head of the Harbor Police Department spotted DaCruz on Wednesday at 12:20 p.m. with a plastic bag of jewelry on Rhododendron Road. The officer spoke to DaCruz who then dropped the bag and fled by foot. DaCruz was found at 1 p.m. on Saddle Road.

After DaCruz was brought to Suffolk County Police’s Fourth Precinct, where he admitted to breaking into the Rhododendron Road home two separate times, a search of his van was conducted where police said they found a large quantity of stolen items.Â
Police said DaCruz admitted to performing restoration work and painting houses for both F&M Custom Painting Service Corp. and Long Island Finest Painting Service, and passed out flyers under the company name to generate business. According to police, an investigation is underway to see if there is a possible connection to the stolen items and the companies. Police said they have not yet been able to tell if these companies exist.

Police are looking to identify the owners of the Franklin Mint statues found in DaCruz’s van and looking to speak with anyone who received flyers from companies DaCruz claimed to work for. Police are also asking anyone who can provide information to contact the them at 631-854-8452.
