Ratatouille, 'Every Cat Lover's Dream': Smithtown Adoptable Pet Of The Week
Ratatouille, a 7-year-old female, "would make a purrfect addition to a lucky family that enjoys being adorned with unconditional love."

SMITHTOWN, NY — Ratatouille, a 7-year-old female domestic shorthair mix, is the Smithtown Animal Shelter's Pet of the Week.
She is "sweet and affectionate...with a heart as big as her love for cuddles," according to the shelter.
"This lovable and endearing little charmer is every cat lover’s dream," the shelter wrote. "She lives for head scratches, cozy lap time, and endless snuggles. She would make a purrfect addition to a lucky family that enjoys being adorned with unconditional love and attention from a furry companion."

Ratatouille does have a skin condition called Eosinophilic Granuloma, which can cause itchy spots on her lip and side from time to time, the shelter stated.
"Thankfully, it’s not contagious to other animals and is managed with occasional steroid treatments," the shelter wrote. "Through it all, she remains her sweet, affectionate self, ready to give and receive love. She’s spayed, up to date on vaccines, and more than ready to settle into a home where she can relax, be adored, and share all the snuggles she has to offer."

Interested potential families for Ratatouille must first fill-out an application to schedule a time to properly interact with your prospective soul mate in a domestic setting.
"If you are looking for a fun-loving, yarn-tossing ball of love, stop by the Kitten Nursery or the Cat Condos at the Smithtown Animal Shelter and find a PURR-fect soulmate or two," the shelter stated.
All of the felines at the shelter are current on vaccines and have received a full workup (blood work, Feline HIV & Leukemia tested, physical exam etc.) by a board-certified veterinarian.
Hours are currently Monday to Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sundays and Wednesday evenings are by appointment only.
The Smithtown Animal Shelter's primary concern is finding the perfect home for each animal that finds his/her way to it. The Animal Control Officers and kennel attendants at the Smithtown Animal Shelter will go out of their way to ensure both the rescued and rescuer are made for one another. If you have other pets, you can arrange to bring your four-legged family member into the shelter or they can set up an at-home meet & greet to see how your prospective new addition does with other family members, pets or the household itself.
The shelter is also seeking foster volunteers. Foster parents provide temporary care for cats, kittens and dogs in their own homes. Some animals need as little as two weeks of care, while others may need care for an extended time.
