Registration Gets Underway for Smithtown Kickers 5K Turkey Trot

Grab your running shoes, as runners will take to Smithtown's streets this Thanksgiving Day. 

Smithtown Kickers will host a Turkey Trot 5K Walk/Run this Thursday, Thanksgiving morning to benefit local charities including Angela's House, Smithtown Children's Foundation and more. 

The charitable event features both a children's 1-mile fun run starting at 8 a.m. for children age 10 and under, followed by the 5K Walk/Run starting at 9 a.m. 

Participants will gather at Smithtown Elementary School, located at 51 Lawrence Avenue in Smithtown. The race will start heading south on Lawrence Avenue, before heading further south along Maple Avenue to turn right on Brook Lane. Runners will then head northwest on Brooksite Drive, before heading into the homestretch on Wildwood lane onto Elm Avenue. 

Pre-registration is available online through active.com and costs $20 for adults, $10 for children. Day-of registration starts at 6:45 a.m. Thursday, with the cost increasing to $25 for adults. 

In addition to monetary donations, all participants are asked to bring a can of food for donation to the Smithtown Food Bank to help replenish its shelves after Thanksgiving.
